Projects
Social Practice Art
Presented on the role of art in social movements for NYU's Art, Education, & Community Practice 2024 M.A. cohort.

Art as Disruption
Presentation on critical public pedagogy, specifically the use of public space in relation to artistic disruption & rebuilding tactics.

Statehood & Diaspora
Partnered with the South Asia Solidarity Initiative and Property is Theft Bookstore in Brooklyn, NY to provide a collaborative space to build art and conversation surrounding queerness under nation-states. I was asked to lead a zine-making workshop to create distributable information following a political discussion led by my co-facilitators.
We shed light on queer & trans movements in India, Kashmir, and Bangladesh and our role among the diaspora. We tackled questions such as: How has both right wing fascism and liberalism used queer people and queer liberation to build its own hegemonic, imperial priorities? What does queer liberation look like for you?

The Role of Art in Social Change
Thank you to the University of Redlands Gender Justice and Multicultural Centers for inviting me to guide a discussion on how students, teachers, and artists have created a mold for a new world where no histories are marginalized.

Poetic Resistance & Celebration
Partnered with Barzakh Cafe in Brooklyn, New York to create a space building community, poetry, and political resistance. A special thank you to Barzakh owner, El Atigh, for allowing me to host an open mic for liberation & opening your space to the community, welcoming everyone with open arms.

Elementary Literacy Intervention
Co-created a booklet for public educators to utilize with their classrooms in order to address an increasing literacy gap. The book is illustrated by Florida illustrator, Arianna Infante. We created it after conducting research and oral interviews with public school teachers, Indigenous linguistics scholars, and youth language consultants. We then distributed the book to first and second grade teachers at Purvis J. Behan Elementary School.

Music, Madness, & Revolution
Page from my zine titled, 'Musicians as Unruly Placemakers.' The zine was created in tandem with an essay examining the Spatial Politics of Madness & Revolution through Jazz & Blues. This project is culmination of research and musical art that draws a line between metaphorical and literal uses of space with relation to madness. Can music answer the question of where we go when we go mad?
Vagina Monologues
Designed flyers and programming for the Redlands, CA production of the Vagina Monologues, 1996 play written by Eve Ensler. The play was a culmination of two hundred interviews exploring an array of lived experiences from stories of survival to reclamation.
